According to
Apply Daily (see the link below), Control Yuan member, Mr. Huang Huan-Hsiung,
completes his investigation into the case of (lack of) medical care of
President Chen in prison and suggests home care for him in order to stop the
rapid deterioration of his health.
Mr. Huang's term
ends in July (he is not re-nominated by Ma for a new term) and he expresses his
desire to complete his investigation before his term ends so that an important
archive can be established to detail the medical conditions and (lack of)
medical care for the former president. His investigation took over 626 days,
starting from when President Chen was rushed to Taipei General Veteran Hospital
in 2012.
Mr. Huang
provided four pictures to depict the rapid deterioration of President Chen's
health. In the first picture, taken on Oct. 17, 2012, President Chen was
able to stand upright by himself. In the second picture, taken on May 3, 2013,
he could walk by himself, though clearly with some struggles. In the third
picture, Sept. 24, 2013, in only four months, he could no longer walk without a
walking stick. In the fourth picture, Jan. 22, 2014, another four months later,
he could no longer walk.
Mr. Huang also
details many new symptoms, which clearly indicate that President Chen's life is
in clear and present danger. His severe depression never improves due to the
imprisonment and the only way to release the pressure of being watched and
controlled 24/7 is leaving the prison and going home to receive care from his
family. This conclusion by Control Yuan concurs with the official
diagnosis and treatment issued by Taichung Veteran Hospital (see page 5 of the
link below)
