Everyone
should have the Righteous Indignation against Totalitarianism
Max C. Chiang, Esq.,
Attorney at Law, CA, USA
Who are we?
We are Taiwanese Americans, and like you we are peace loving people
and strong believers of liberty and justice. For centuries, our people have
been persecuted by several imperial powers surrounding our homeland.
After a brief occupation by the Dutch, Taiwan came under the
colonial totalitarianism of Ching Dynasty. In 1895, Taiwan was ceded by China
to Japan after the Sino-Japan war. For the next 50 years, Taiwan became the
colony of Japan and was under the dominion and control of Japanese
Emperor.
At the end of WWII, General Douglas MacArthur authorized Chinese
Nationalist army to oversee the surrender of Japanese army in Taiwan. The occupying force never left the territory
and has since been treating the people and the land of Taiwan as its trophy,
which was won merely by its alliance with the US during the war. After Chinese Nationalist was defeated by the
Chinese Communists, Taiwan became the refuge for the humiliated Chinese exile
government.
We are the people who are the rightful owners of the colony of a
fallen empire and the threatened target of the new evil empire—Communist China.
Whom do we protest against?
We are here to express our anger and indignation against Mr. Ma Ying-Jeou, who is the current president of Republic of China, the exile
government from China, and who is also the chairman of KMT, an infamous
corrupted political party which, along with the Chinese Communist Party, has
been one of the major causes for the pestilent and tragedies of
Chinese-speaking world for the last century.
Mr. Ma, though a Harvard-educated scholar, has been the main
persecutor of the Taiwanese people on the remote island of Pacific West. Mr. Ma is an atypical Harvard legal scholar
and has been a strong opponent to the democracy in Taiwan. His past notorious acts included, but were
not limited to, his opposition to the direct election of the president, the
popular voting for the legislature and the cease of martial law. His most-recent
persecution against Taiwanese people includes his serious human right
violations, the abuse of the judicial process for political gains, and his
conspiracy with Chinese communists to annex Taiwan without the consent of the
people.
What do we protest against?
We are here to express our righteous indignation against Ma’s
exhibition of totalitarianism and his relentless, outrageous violation of human
rights, and most of all, against his vicious attack on the democracy of Taiwan
and his wicked alliance with Chinese Communist Dictators to deprive the people
of Taiwan of their freedom of choice and their inalienable right to pursue
their liberty, justice and happiness.
Why do we protest?
We want to get our voices heard, and we do not want to be silent any
longer.
How do you help us?
We need your moral support. A
gesture of approval and support means a lot to us. This is a land of the free and the home of
the brave. While we are partaking the
freedom which is the fruit of the struggles of our brave forefathers who sacrificed
tremendously to bestow the precious gift of freedom onto us, we need to be
reminded that we cannot turn our heads away from the miseries suffered by the
people who are still under the persecution of the totalitarianism and
dictatorship.
